ZILQAD -"Sunday Salaat"

It is narrated from the Prophet (S.A.W.A) that it is recommended to pray this prayer on Sunday in the month of Dhil Qa'da with a great reward. And his religion will be intact. His grave will be widened and enlightened, his parents will be pleased with him and Allah (swt) will forgive his parents and children and will give him more wealth. And the Angel of Death will be gentle with him when taking his soul. And many other great benefits for this special prayer.

The Pilgrimage of Lady Fatima Masuma (s.a)

The merits of the pilgrimage of Lady Fatima Masuma (s.a)

There have been many traditions from the Imams (a.s) about the rewards awarded to those who perform the pilgrimage of this noble lady, some of which are mentioned below:

1. Imam al-Sādiq (a.s) has said:
وَسَتُدْفَنُ فيها امْرَأةٌ مِنْ اَوْلادي تُسَمّى فاطِمَةَ، فَمَنْ زارَها وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الجنّة
“A lady from my children, by the name of Fatima will be buried in Qum. Whoever visits her [shrine], will certainly be admitted to Heaven.”

[Bihār al-Anwār, vol. 48, p. 317; vol. 60, p. 216 & vol. 102, p. 266.]

2. Imam al-Sādiq (a.s) has also said:
اِنَّ زِيارَتََََها تََََعْدِلُ الجَنَّة
“Visiting her earns Heaven.”

[Ibid., vol. 60, p. 219.]

3. Sa`d ibn Sa`d al-Ash`arī narrates, “I asked Imam al-Ridā (a.s) about the reward awarded for performing the pilgrimage of Lady Fatima Masuma (s.a) and the Imam (a.s) replied:”
“Whoever visits her [shrine], his reward will be Heaven.”

[Uyūn Akhbār al-Ridā, vol. 2, p. 267]

4. Imam al-Ridā (a.s) has also said:
مَنْ زارَها عارِفاً بِحَقِّها فَلَهُ الجنّة
“Whoever visits her [shrine], while knowing and being aware of her high status, the reward for him will be Heaven.”

[Bihār al-Anwār, vol. 48, p. 317.]

5. Imam al-Ridā (a.s) has also said:
مَنْ زارالْمَعْصومَةَ بِقُمّ كَمَنْ زارَني
“Whoever visits Masuma in Qum, it is like he has visited me.”

[Nāsikh al-Tawārīkh, vol. 3, p. 68; Rayāhīn al-Sharī`a, vol. 5, p. 35.]

And Imam al-Ridā (a.s) has also said:
اَلا فَمَنْ زارَني وَهُوَ عَلى غُسْلٍ، خَرَجَ مِن ْذنوبِهِ كَيومٍ وَلَدَتْهُ اُمُّهُ
“Be aware, whoever visits me in a state of purity [after doing ghusl], he will come out of sin and become cleansed [purified of sin], as if he has just been born from his mother.”

Therefore, it follows that that same purity is obtained from performing the pilgrimage of Lady Fatima Masuma (s.a).

[Uyūn Akhbār al-Ridāa, vol. 2, p. 260.]

6. A Shi`a went to perform the pilgrimage of Imam al-Ridā (a.s) and after the pilgrimage he decided to go to Karbalā. On his way, he saw Imam al-Ridā (a.s) in a dream. Imam (a.s) said to him, “Why did you not also pass through Qum and perform the pilgrimage at the grave of my sister?”

[Anwār al-Masha`sha`īn, vol. 1, p. 212]

7. Mullā Haydar Khānsārī narrates a tradition from Imam al-Ridā (a.s):
“Whoever is unable to perform my pilgrimage, he should perform the pilgrimage of my brother in Ray [Hadrat Hamzah, buried near Hadrat `Abd al-`Ađīm] or my sister [Lady Fatima Masuma (s.a)] in Qum. He will get the same reward as he would for performing my pilgrimage.”
[Mullā Haydar Khwānsārī, Zubdat al-Tasānīf, vol. 6, p. 159]
8. Imam Muhammad Taqī al-Jawād (a.s) has said:
مَنْ زارَ عَمَّتي بِقُمّ فَلَهُ الجَنَّةُ
“Whoever visits my aunt [Lady Fatima Masuma (s.a)] in Qum, will enter Heaven.”

[Bihār al-Anwār, vol. 102, p. 265.]

From the foregoing traditions we can see the immense reward, narrated from three Imams (a.s), of performing the pilgrimage of this noble lady.
An interesting point is that, in tradition no. 5 above, Imam al-Ridā (a.s) has made the reward of performing the pilgrimage of Lady Fatima Masuma (s.a) equal to that of performing pilgrimage at his own grave.
It is also interesting to compare this tradition with the following:
Imam al-Sādiq (a.s) was asked,

“what is the reward of someone who performs the pilgrimage of one of the Imams (a.s)?” Imam (a.s) replied:
كَمَنْ زارَ رَسولَ الله
“It is like he has visited the Prophet (S) of Allah.”

[Uyūn Akhbār al-Ridā, vol. 2, p. 262.]

In the name of Allah, I do not ask for but His generosity, I do not fear but His justice, I do not count on but His words, I do not cling and hold to but His rope [love and friendship of Muhammad and Ali (children of) Muhammad]. Unto Thee I draw near, O Owner of amnesty and approval! (away) from oppression and hostility, from the ups and downs, and the chronic pains and sorrows, from the "course of events (life) coming to an end" before "provisions" (for the Hereafter) are put in order and readiness. Thee (alone) I ask for guidance unto that which is good, set right and put in order, Thee (alone) I ask for help while I make efforts to become better, and get what I want. Unto Thee (alone) I turn to for health and welfare, and its completion, together with peace and security, and its continuity. I take refuge with Thee, O Lord, from "playing into the hands of" trick devils. and with the help of Thy authority and power keep clear of fascism and reign of terror. Accept my prayers and fasts I had, so far, given effect to, and let my tomorrow, and that which comes after it be better than the hours and the time I am in today, let my family, friends and community look up to me, and love me dearly, and keep me safe whether I am awake or asleep, (for) Thou art Allah, the Best Guardian, and Thou art the Most Merciful!

O my Allah, today I stand before Thee free from the guilt of "giving an associate to Allah" or defection and desertion, and shall be in the same position day after day hence after, and act with faithfulness and sincerity towards Thee, and pray, hopeful of getting a favorable answer, stay obedient in Thy service, looking forward to obtain just rewards. Send blessing on Muhammad Thy best creation, (who) invited (mankind) unto Thy Religion (Islam), and keep me for Thy self in honor and glory in the name of Thy Majesty and Might, which neither decline nor lose power, and protect me through Thy "vision" (Divination) which rest not, nor is ever inattentive, bring to fullness and maturity every work I undertake by giving my self entirely up to Thy will and pleasure, and keep me alive (till death) under Thy amnesty, Verily Thou art Forgiving, Merciful

The Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) has said: “The number of levels (stages) in Heaven is (equivalent to) the number of verses in the Qur’an(6236). Thus, when a reciter of the Qur’an enters into Heaven, it will be said to him: ‘Go up one level for every verse that you can recite.’ Thus, no one will be in a higher level than the one who has memorized the entire Qur’an.”

Amirul Mo’minin ‘Ali ibne Abi Talib (peace be upon him) has said: “Recite the Qur’an and seek assistance from it for surely Allah, the Most High, will not punish one who has memorized the Qur’an (and has it within one’s heart).”

Amirul Mo’minin ‘Ali ibne Abi Talib (peace be upon him) has said: “A person who recites 100 verses from anywhere in the Qur’an and then says: ‘Ya Allah’ seven times, if he wanted to remove a huge boulder (from the ground), he would be able to do so with the permission of Allah.”

The Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) has said: “If you want ease and success in this world, the death of a martyr, to be saved on the Day of Loss, a shade on the Day of the burning Qiyamat, and guidance on the Day of going astray, then take lessons from the Qur’an. Surely it is the word of the Merciful, a protection from the Satan, and one of the most weightiest of things for the scale of (good) deeds (on the Day of Judgement).”

The Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) has said: “Surely the recitation of the Qur’an is an atonement for the sins, a covering (protection) from the Hell Fire, and a safety from the punishment. The Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) has said: “The people of the Qur’an (those who recite and those who memorize the Qur’an) will be in the highest level (in Heaven) from amongst all of the people with the exception of the Prophets and Messengers. Thus, do not seek to degrade the people of the Qur’an, nor take away their rights, for surely they have been given a high rank by Allah.”
