8th of Sahwwal 1435 AH - Anniversary of the destruction of the cemetery of al-Baqi.

8th of Sahwwal 1435 AH - Anniversary of the destruction of the cemetery of al-Baqi.

The cemetery of al-Baqi is located in Medina, Saudi Arabia. It is the cemetery where four honorable Imams - Imam Hasan(as), Imam Zain al-Abideen(as), Imam Mohammad Baqir(as) and Imam Jaffer Sadiq(as) - and the beloved daughter of the Prophet Mohammad(sawaw) and the leader of the women of Paradise Bibi Fatima Zehra(sa) are buried. In addition, a number of important personalities and honorable companions of the Holy Prophet(sawaw) are also buried there.

On 21st April 1925, 8th Shawwal 1345 A.H., the ruling Saudi Government bombed and destroyed the holy Cemetery and razed all the mausoleum structures. Their main excuse was the teachings of their Wahabi Sect which considers all types of intercession to Allah(swt) through the Prophet(sawaw) and his Ahl-e-Bait(as) a bid'ah and a sin. Their teachings also consider the visiting of the graves of the Prophet(sawaw) and other personalities as shirk - polytheism. Their real aim, however, was to distance the Muslims from their history and important historical personalities. Their teachings have, however, been refuted logically and referentially proven wrong by all other sects of Islam including the Shiite and Sunnites.

The detailed account of the destruction of the cemetery of al-Baqi and several pictures are available at http://www.ziaraat.com/mdnjan01.php.

History of Jannatul Baqi

On Wednesday 8th Shawwal 1345 AH (April 21, 1925), mausoleums in Jannatul Al-Baqi (Medina) were demolished by King Abdulaziz Ibn Saud. In the same year (1925), he also demolished the tombs of holy personalities at Jannat al-Mualla (Makkah) where the Holy Prophet (sawaw)'s mother, wife, grandfather and other ancestors are buried. Destruction of sacred sites in Hijaz by the Saudi Wahhabi's continues even today.

21ST APRIL 1925,
(8TH SHAWWAL 1345 A.H.)
THE ISLAMIC WORLD WITNESSED A TRAGEDY OF UNPRECEDENTED DIMENSION
ONE OF THE ISLAM'S HOLIEST PLACES, JANNATUL-BAQI WAS DEMOLISHED BY SAUDI GOVERNMENT

AAH..!!! JANNATUL -BAQI..!!!

When I go to Medina
And see the grand mosque of Rasullullah (s.a.w.a),

My heart fills with joy!
My heart fills with joy to see the grandeur
My heart fills with joy to see the beauty
My heart fills with joy to see the reverence
My heart fills with joy to see the ummah!

But then, I look across the grand mosque of Rasullullah (s.a.w.a)
And see the Jannatul Baqi,

My heart hurts!
My heart hurts to see the only daughter of Rasullullah (s.a.w.a)
in a place that is destroyed and locked
My heart hurts to see the son of Rasullullah (s.a.w.a) in a place without a shelter or a dome.
My heart hurts to see the grandson of Rasullullah (s.a.w.a) in a place not accessible to his friends.
My heart hurts to see the great-grandsons of Rasullullah (s.a.w.a) in a place secluded from the mosque!

My heart complains!
My heart complains about the injustices
done to Sayyada Zahra (s.a)
My heart complains about the treachery done to Imam Hasan (a.s)
My heart complains about the disrespect shown to my Imams (a.s)
My heart complains about the restrictions put upon their friends!

When I go to Medina
And see the grand mosque of Rasullullah (s.a.w.a),
My heart fills with joy!
My heart hurts!
My heart complains!

AAH..!!! JANNATUL -BAQI..!!!@

2nd, 4th or 9th Shawwal 1435 AH - Battle of Khandaq (Trench)

2nd, 4th or 9th Shawwal 1435 AH - Battle of Khandaq (Trench)

As Salam o alaikum,

According to different traditions the Battle of Khandaq was fought on the 2nd or 4th or 9th of Shawwal in the 5th year of Hijrah. This battle is also known as Battle of Ahzaab and some verses related to this battle are in Sura-e-Ahzaab.

This battle was fought in Madina. Hazrat Salman Farsi(ra) counseled for a Khandaq (trench) to be built around the city of Madina to fight the combined army of Mushrikeen-e-Makkah, Jews and Pagans. The trench prevented the strong army of 10,000 (up to 24,000 in some traditions) of the infidels from entering the city to fight against around 3,000 Muslims. This army of infidels was led by Abu Sufyan and Khalid bin Walid. During the digging up of the trench, all Muslims participated with zeal but the hardest work was done by Hazrat Salaman Farsi(ar). He worked equal to 10 men and looking at his great effort, everyone started saying the "Salman is from Us". At this, the Prophet(sawaw) said "Salman in from my Ahlul Bayt (Salamanu Minna Ahlulbayt)"

A siege was laid around the city for about 27 days. Finally a strongman among the Pagan army - Amr bin Adbuwud endeavored to cross the trench together with six of his companions and challenged the Muslim army. The Muslims were frightened by the stories told about the bravery and strength of Amr by some of the munafiqeen among the Muslims. Amr challenged the Muslims three times and all the three times only Imam Ali(as) responded by seeking permission from Prophet Muhammad(sawaw) to go and fight Amr. When nobody else came forward among the Muslms, finally the Prophet Muhammad(sawaw) gave permission to Imam Ali(as). He exchanged his dress with Imam Ali(as). Before sending his to the battle gound, Prophet Muhammad(sawaw) said, "The complete Imaan(faith) is going to fight against the complete Kufr (infidalism)". He also said that "The complete Islam is going to fight against the complete Kufr".

Imam Ali(as) fought with his traditional furor and killed Amr after a fierce battle. He had Amr's head in one hand and a blood-soaked sword in the other when he returned to the Prophet(sawaw). On seeing him, Prophet(sawaw) said "One stroke of Ali at the day of Khandaq is heavier than all the good deeds of my Ummah until the day of judgement" (Maqtal Khawarzmi Page 45, Yanab al-Muwaddah Page 95, Moaraj un-Nabuwwah 4:130). At the same time Prophet Mohammad(sawaw) also said to Imam Ali(as) "Congratulations to you Ali, if this act of yours toaday is compared with the good deeds of my entire Ummah then this act of yours would still be heavier." (Yanabe al-Muwaddah Page 96).

A general battle was avoided after the killing of Amr and a few other important fighters of the infidels. Traditions state that about 6 Muslims attained martyrdom. In addition, the weather conditions deteriorated and the infidel army was forced to withdraw.

It is very important to note that this grand victory of Imam Ali(as) and his show of courage at a time when all other Sahaba were afraid of Amr ibne-Abduwud laid the foundation for strengthening of the position of Muslims. Had Amr succeeded in terrorizing the Muslims, it would have been utterly difficult to overcome that fear and move forward.
